I was teaching on the verse Revelation 3:20. Not all the students bring their Bibles, so I pulled two out of the cupboard in the classroom. One of the versions was a King James. This is how it read, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
According to one student's evaluation, the word sup is Whazup! And Jesus becomes our homie.
I was using Lego as reinforcement to this verse. I had a partial front of a house. The Jesus Lego figure was the Rescue Man and was standing outside. I was asked, "Why does he have sunglasses, why does he have a helmet, why does he have a lifejacket on and why does he have the letters "R.E.S. Q" on his back? I actually had answers for all the questions.
According to one student's evaluation, the word sup is Whazup! And Jesus becomes our homie.
My classroom backs onto the Kidzone store. My students where not very interested in the lesson and at every opportunity tried to break into the store. Their tool of choice to take out the screws in the doorknob, a paint scrapper. I would have liked to have helped in the planning of the heist. It sounded like a lot of fun and more exciting than my lesson, but somebody has to be the mature one...stop laughing!
